Lesson 6 6.7 Decommissioning Planning

On completion of decommissioning, a Post Decommissioning Report is prepared containing:

  • Description of the facility and decommissioning objectives
  • Decommissioning tasks undertaken
  • Significant issues (legislation, programme, organisation, management, regulatory)
  • Radiological criteria used for removal from regulatory control
  • Inventory of radioactive materials produced and their present location
  • Summary of abnormal events or problems
  • Summary of occupational and public doses
  • Results of the final radiation survey
  • Lessons learned

Full decommissioning records should be retained for a period of 30 years from project completion.
